Summer is in full swing so tomatoes are plentiful. My husband found these beautiful heirloom tomatoes. I followed the directions for one 9 inch tart. My tomatoes were so big that I only needed 2. This tart was delicious. Definitely a make again recipe. To see what others thought head over to Tuesdays with Dorie.

Buttermilk Scones
Scones are beloved with my family, I try and make them once a month or so. I have a recipe similar to this but it has more sugar and uses heavy cream or sour cream. I have not made scones with buttermilk before. I added the “playing around” ingredient of dried fruit and raisins are…
Crumb-Topped Ricotta Coffee Cake
We are well aware of the magic of ricotta cheese in baked goods. One of our favorite breakfast items is lemon ricotta pancakes. In this recipe the cake batter is very thick which held up the berries quite nicely. I always fear a soggy cake with fruit but this was not a problem here. The…
S’Mores Ice Cream Cake
I can’t think of a better way to enjoy the holiday weekend than this ice cream cake. We enjoyed making and eating it. The crust is made of graham crackers, peanuts, butter and sugar. It is chilled in the freezer and then baked until brown. I went with Dorie’s suggestion of vanilla, coffee and chocolate…
Father’s Day Blueberry-Cherry Pie
Pies are beloved in my house. Every year I make a cherry pie for summer and a blueberry cranberry pie for winter. These are our favorites and I have tried and true recipes. Dorie’s Father’s Day Pie combines two of our favorite berries into one pie. I am used to using pectin as a thickener…
One Big Break-Apart Chipper
Our latest cookie recipe comes from Dorie’s latest book Baking with Dorie. This espresso, cinnamon and cardamom flavored cookie is rolled into one big cookie. I did not worry about shape or size when I rolled it out but when I went to fit it into my baking pan it did not fit. I trimmed…
Asparagus-Lemon Quiche
My husband and I recently went out to our local French restaurant and had quiche. My husband enjoyed his but I was not impressed with mine, I knew I could make one better. We have made our share of quiches and tarts over the years and I looked forward to our latest recipe. I decided…
Mochaccino Muffins
Coffee, coffee, coffee. Buzz, buzz, buzz. They don’t call me CafeMom for nothing, I love me a good cup of Joe. Combining my two favorite foods chocolate and coffee this recipe has cocoa powder, ground coffee, coffee extract and semisweet chocolate. The ingredients need to come to room temperature before baking so planning ahead is…
French Riviera Lemon Tart
It is good to be in the Riviera! I have been baking tarts à la Dorie for decades now and I thought I had made them all but this lemon tart is very different from all the rest. Starting with the crust I have not made one with olive oil before. Dorie’s sweet tart dough…
Cottage Cheese Biscuits
Who doesn’t love a good biscuit and these were good. It has been a long time since I have had biscuits so this was a nice treat. I made mine about 2 1/2 inches and we each had 2 with our meal. I am traveling this week for business, I managed to knock these out…
