Taking inspiration from French Fridays with Dorie, I made a list ‘of best’ of Baking with Dorie. I tried to make a top 10 but that was too few so I went with just a list of my family’s favorites. Some of these recipes I have made more than once and others were deemed restaurant worthy. Let me know some of your favorites.
Lisbon Chocolate Cake
S’Mores Ice Cream Cake
Rye Cranberry Chocolate Chunk Cookies
Ice Spiced Hermets
Little Marvels
Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies, Paris style
Swedish Fika Cake
Apricot and Pistachio Olive Oil Cake
French Rivera Lemon Tart
Steph’s Bakewell Tart
Swirled, Spiced Sour Cream Bundt Cake
Crumb Topped Ricotta Coffee Cake
Chocolate Babka
Strawberry Cheesecake Chocolate No Bake
Clam Chowder Pie
Mary Dodd’s Maple-Bacon Chocolate Chip Cookies
Candied Almond Tart
A big thank you to Steph who has been a fearless leader guiding us through another Dorie book. I am very grateful that she has kept our little group of bandits together. Thank you Steph!
On to the Lisbon cake. Our final recipe of the book and my husband deemed it restaurant worthy. He also stated this should replace my standard cake recipe, a compliment indeed. Dorie describes the layers as a brownie-like cake, a whipped chocolate ganache like a mousse, and a dusting of cocoa. These three layers sure worked for us. This is a rich cake so small portions are appreciated. The cake froze well too so we could thaw a quarter at a time. To see what others thought head over to Tuesdays with Dorie.
I love your idea of this list – it would take me AGES to figure out a top ten but I might just do that!
Yes, this cake is restaurant worthy – we couldn’t get enough! Yours is perfect!

Love your list– I see why this cake makes it on there! I was looking through all my photos from the book last night and thinking about my favorites (some things I have no memory of!)…I do think the hermits, of all things, might be my number one, and are certainly my most often repeated. I know it’s sometimes hard to sit down and write a post, but thanks for showing up every week with your tips and reviews. Enjoy your vacation!

Your cake looks so beautiful. Such fun to hear that it was such a hit there…Mark loved it as well. It was also so fun to read your list of favorites. I thought it would be ALL CHOCOLATE things so I was surprised that there were so many non-chocolate recipes on the list. So fun baking with you. Have a great time vacationing.
