Let the substitutions begin…
We are not smoked fish fans so I was glad to see the substitution of tuna and that is the fish we chose. Standing in the grocery store’s bean isle we were trying to figure out what white beans to choose when my husband said let’s just get garbanzo beans. So our white beans and smoked fish turned into tuna and garbanzo bean salad. I also nixed the preserved lemon. We served this for a light dinner my son was not happy but ended up enjoying the dinner. I have to admit that we used our normal Italian salad dressing that we had on hand. To see what others did head over to Cook the Book Fridays.
very much in the spirit of a pantry-and-fridge salad….looks great.

Sometimes you just have to go with what works! Glad you were able to enjoy…and your son ended up liking it!

We always have canned tuna around, but have never thought of pairing it with canned beans (or chickpeas). Now I know they work well together.
