Mary’s Maine Bars

Mary’s Maine Bars was the perfect recipe for me to make this week on Tuesdays with Dorie. I had travelled for work so I was short on time and energy but I had all the ingredients to make this bar. My one wrinkle was I had only one half cup of molasses, I did not make any changes to the recipe and crossed my fingers. In my mind there was enough sugar in the recipe so I thought it would be just a little lighter in flavor.

These have been described as gingerbread brownie and I would agree with that assessment. The sanding sugar on top was a nice touch too. I also agree these are great for holidays due to all the warm spices and flavors. Another winner this week.

Yours look so pretty. I’m excited to make these. When I saw the photo in the book I thought they were chocolate so I was so excited when I found out that they were not!
