We have made several sable recipes over the years from Baking Chez Moi and this will be our last. The basis of this cookie is like most; butter, sugar, flour, salt but the secret ingredient is green tea leaves. This recipe is different from the rest as it does not have an egg which made for tricky rolling into a log. The cookie dough is chilled before slicing and baking. I think the key to this recipe is fresh tea leaves which I did not have. It did not occur to me to check the expiration date (expired) before baking. Oh well, this is the season of using up what I have on hand and not buying new. I enjoyed these cookies very much, what’s not to like? To see what others thought head over to Tuesdays with Dorie.
The tea set belongs to my husband. I asked where he got it from and he said his grandmother. I asked if his grandmother went to Asia and he said “I don’t know”. It is the mystery tea set that I guess I should investigate.
i am quite certain that at least half of what is in my cupboards is technically expired, but yes, we are using things now, so whatevs! haha. these look good to me.

Your tea set is lovely, and your cookies perfect! I know what you mean about buying…I don’t have tea in the house and know we would never use the box if I buy it. Not sure I will be making these. Good to know they were delicious!

Your mystery tea set is very pretty, as are your cookies. I found the tea flavour to be very subtle, even using fresh tea.
