Our latest baking adventure is this lemon Bundt cake from Baking with Dorie. I assigned this cake to my husband as I was sick and since my husband is the one who brought back this lovely cold from his recent business trip, I thought it the least he could do 🙂
This is a classic sponge cake with 6 eggs in which the egg whites get whipped up to glossy peaks. The lemon flavor comes from the zest of two lemons. My husband did not know we had lemon extract so he did not use but the cake needed it. My husband really loved this cake and had seconds. Since he is a cake over frosting lover this Bundt was up his alley. I would have really enjoyed the addition of berries, maybe next time. My son who is more of a frosting dude thought it too plain. Anyway you slice it, it was a classic sponge cake that hit the right mark. I don’t think anything about this cake says breakfast though. To see what others thought head over to Tuesdays with Dorie.

So sorry you arent feeling well but I have to say your husband did really well! I am not sure my cake would have fared as well if my husband had to step in! 😂. I used blueberries and I can’t imagine not, so maybe try that next time!

still chuckling at husband bringing cold with him so he gets to make the cake this week…he did a great job from the looks of things. Our husbands are similar in that they prefer the cake without icing…this one was a hit here as well. The inside looks as great as the outside. Hope you are feeling better soon.
