Since I am going to make a berry pie later this month I decided to go with Dorie’s Playing Around suggestion and I made a Nectarine-Berry Cobbler. A cobbler is a combination of fruit and biscuits and Dorie’s version includes cottage cheese in her biscuits. A quick search of my blog and I discovered that we have made cottage cheese biscuits before and luckily we liked them so this dessert should be a hit.
My fruit base included nectarines, blueberries, sugar, flour and cardamom. Fearing a soupy dessert I added more flour which I should not have, I will keep the flour at 1/4 cup next time. I think I need to replace my cardamom as we did not taste this spice in the final product. For my biscuits, I only used what fit on top and I froze the rest for another time. (FYI, the biscuit recipe has a typo in the flour measurement, 2 cups of flour equals 272 grams not 172 grams).
Fresh fruit is a quintessential summer dessert and we enjoyed this especially with a dollop of whipped cream on top.
July is going to be a berry good month. To see what others thought head over to Tuesdays with Dorie.
Thanks for pointing out the typo, that’s an important number not to mess up. Next time, I’d make a nectarine-berry one. Yours look great!

Gosh…yours looks absolutely beautiful!! I was thinking the same thing about two berry recipes haha…that is why I did this one first…to spread them out. I am thinking no one in my group will complain though.

Your biscuit topping looks so golden and fluffy- yum! I’m debating whether to do the triple berry or the “playing around” version. I usually have to guess what my crew of dessert eaters will like the most!
