Pecan-Brown Sugar Crack-Ups

This recipe reminded me of another Dorie cookie which can be broken into pieces at the table, Salted Butter Break-Ups from Around My French Table. Given the times in which we live in, these crack-ups probably need to stay home for family only. I thought this was an easy recipe and used one piece of equipment, food processor and I did not have to bring any ingredients to room temperature so no planning ahead. I do not have fleur de sel so I skipped that part but I did add the sanding sugar. I thought these were very tasty with the crispy bits around the edges.

You’re right about these being for family only. I took mandelbrot to work bagged in serves for one. Your crack ups look good.

  2. Loved the ease of these – and the taste! Wasn’t sure how thick these should be – I made 1/2 the recipe and used a 1/4 sheet pan and the dough nearly filled the pan. Not sure I would want them thicker than they ended up – I had some thicker than others, they were a bit “rough”. Yours look perfect and perfectly even!

  3. These were really tasty! We loved the fleur de sel addition so if you make them again I would suggest adding it…great sweet and salty combo!

  4. sounds like bits and pieces of these would be tasty with fruit or ice cream (or both). look forward to making them.
