I made this lovely soup for my family on Valentine’s Day. It was a welcome addition to our dinner table. The photo was taken on day two in which the soup became more stew-like as Dorie had stated. I preferred the first night in which the soup was thin and broth like. My husband preferred the thicker soup but basically everyone was happy with this flavorful soup. I took the time to make the meatballs and I used beef. There were so many yummy additions to this soup that it made a very nice meal. I am so glad that I have this group to nudge me along, otherwise I would look at the recipe and say to much work for soup. To see what others thought head over to Cook the Book Fridays.
I am glad I have this group also Diane because I never would have made this…never thinking we would like it and here we are loving it haha. Glad it was a hit with your family as well…and I loved we got a few meals out of it!

With so much ingredients and spices and time involvement, this soup is a labor of love. So appropriate for Valentine’s Day!

I agree that it was more stew-like on the second and subsequent days but I added a bit of stock each time to make it more soup-like if that is what I am after! LOVED this so much!
