Merveilles

Baking Chez Moi

We have another fried dessert on Tuesdays with Dorie. Merveille means miracle and it is a miracle that I made this recipe. The dough is soft and requires two chillings. It is supposed to be rolled until it is paper-thin. My dough kept either sticking to the cutting board or getting holes in it before it got to the paper-thin texture. Unfortunately I did not have the patience for this recipe; I rolled as best I could and made some strips with my pizza wheel. My husband was drafted for the frying this week. Despite all my complaining, everyone loved this recipe. What’s not to like, fried dough and powdered sugar. My husband and I really didn’t know what we were doing, we think we fried them too long but it is hard to know when you haven’t made them before. I am happy that this was mostly a success. I am happy that it is our last fry recipe. To see what others thought head over to Tuesdays with Dorie.

I’m glad it wasn’t just me that found this dough difficult to work with. I started to think I wouldn’t make it work. Glad you enjoyed these.
