Melody Cookies

Tuesdays with Dorie
Dorie’s Cookies

According to Dorie Melody Cookies were a big hit in the 60s from Nabisco but by 1970 had disappeared. This cookie phenomenon was before my time so I was not aware of what I was missing. These cookies came out as promised; very chocolaty and with a nice snap. Dorie recommends Valrhona dark cocoa but I used Nestle’s Special Dark Chocolate Cocoa which worked out well. The classic shape for this cookie is scalloped. My scalloped cookie cutter was larger than 2 inches so I went with my 2 inch heart shape. I am not a milk cookie dunker but I can see that these would be great with ice cream. To see what other’s thought head over to Tuesdays with Dorie.
