Cinnamon Baked Doughnuts and Mexican Hot Chocolate

When I read the theme of the week at I Heart Cooking Clubs, Get Cozy, the first item that came to mind was Hot Chocolate! Winter and hot beverages go together just like hot chocolate and doughnuts.

I was perusing the Barefoot Contessa website and came across this pair of recipes. This required me buying new equipment, doughnut pans, but it seemed worth it. I have never baked donuts before and was looking forward to the adventure.

My husband was right, baked donuts are muffins but I never have cinnamon and sugar on my muffins so that is what made them special. My pans were the perfect size. As usual Ina’s recipe made more than stated, I got 21. I should have halved the recipe but no complaints from the family on the extras. Dipping the doughnuts in the hot chocolate was good also, it was on the thick side and perfect for dipping. I am happy with this experience and would make them again. Final thought, donut or doughnut?

Haha! I always opt for donut because it's easier:)I've been wanting to make these baked donuts but don't have the special pan needed. So glad that you shared them. They definitely look delicious paired with the hot chocolate. I could really get cozy with both.

This has the look and feel of an exciting experiment. I'll say doughnut because they are made from dough.
