Granola Energy Bars

This week on Tuesdays with Dorie we are making Granola Energy Bars (page 328) from Baking Chez Moi.  This is a healthy start to the new year.
Has this ever happened to you?  You find little pieces missing from your baked goods.

I enjoyed this recipe mostly because I had all the ingredients.  Filled with natural goodness these bars contain oats, dried fruit, coconut, nuts and seeds.  I used raisins, cranberries, apricots, almonds, sunflower seeds and pumpkin seeds, all were great.  The binding ingredient was supposed to be brown rice syrup but a substitution of corn syrup was given so I used that instead. I used my 9- inch square Pyrex pan and cut them into 12 strips, 20 seemed to small for a granola bar.  I liked these and would make them again.

Tuesdays With Dorie is an international baking group working our way through Baking Chez Moi by Dorie Greenspan.  To see what others did in this group go here.

I loved these, but I definitely get that they are 'energy dense'. They are very satisfying for breakfast!

I didn't need to buy anything for this recipe, either. That's definitely a nice feature.

The dog usually gets blamed for those missing pieces in my house. It's always a sign that it's delicious. They look great.

LOL on the little bit missing…you know, that used to happen here all the time and then the boys grew up and moved out and now it only happens when one is home, lol. I think a lot of families have these same mysteries. Your bars look terrific, no wonder it was too hard to resist a bit.

I've been baking and blogging for so long, I think my family has finally figured out not to snitch from my baked goods until they ask me. 😉 I'm not even sharing these bars. Made them with expensive gluten free oats. I make them their own treats enough.

I'm usually the one responsible for the missing pieces from my baked goods:) Your bars look delicious! I agree, it was nice to have ingredients on hand instead of running all over town!

These were a wonderful treat! Yours look lovely! I substituted for the brown rice syrup too! I used honey and brown sugar…delish!

  16. I too did a substitution and used local honey because it was too late to find brown rice syrup (we live in a very small town with limited offerings). It worked well but I bet the syrup would give them a little more stickiness. Yours looked like they turned out perfectly!
