Palets des Dames, Lille Style

Today on French Fridays with Dorie we are celebrating Dorie’s birthday with sweets from her new cookbook Baking Chez Moi.  With the release of her new cookbook, just 4 days away, Dorie has shared some baking recipes in advance.  Palets des Dames, Lille Style; Canneles; and Chocolate Cream Puffs with Mascarpone and Rose Filling.  My family picked  Palets des Dames, Lille Style for me to make.

This is a soft cake-like batter that needs to be chilled for a least an hour so planning is in order. Dorie suggests 2 teaspoons of dough per cookie.  I did not have this handy scoop size so I scooped 2 teaspoons and rolled into a ball.

The cookies cool to room temperature before icing.

Palets des Dames, Lille Style are very pretty cookies.  We enjoyed this vanilla cookie with a hint of lemon.  My son said that because they were so small that he could eat 8:)

See what others made from Baking Chez Moi.

I ate more than 8. Whoops. ha! These were a big hit in our house, too. Even my husband, who isn't a big fan of sweets, ate a few.

They are addictive, aren't they? We packaged some up and distributed some to various family members (my uncle says I've earned favourite niece status, for now). Still, a lot disappeared before that happened.

I could eat 8 even if they weren't small. Very nice little cookies, weren't they?

Your son is my kinda guy. I ate five of those delicious morsels before they finished cooling. Quickly packed up the rest and took to the Library Ladies! Your cookies look exactly as I want my cookies to look. I always think bigger is better and started out my making larger cookies. And, I didn't roll them like I would do after reading your Post. As I made more cookies, I made them smaller and the last few looked good. Yours are all gorgeous.

Your cookies look beautiful! I made these as well, and they were terrific. I ended up making a half-batch between calls and emails just before I left on a trip. Into a box the cookies went, and made for a sweet treat on my job-site! I still have the 2nd half of the batter in the freezer and can't wait to bake them. Yours look lovely – oh, and I could have easily eaten 8!
