Jelly Roll Cake

I made this jelly roll cake, a light sponge cake rolled around a filling, for Father’s Day. Dorie gives several options in her “playing around” section. I opted to make the ice cream roll as ice cream is a family favorite.

This was best the day it was made but leftovers were welcomed. Chocolate sauce is also a nessesity and not optional. My husband’s only comment was he did not like the lemon zest in the cake with the cookies and cream ice cream, a note I made for next time.   1. HA…our families are the same! Ice cream is always welcome and there is always room 😂. I think yours looks beautiful with the chocolate sauce drizzled on it…I agree, the chocolate is not an option! I left the lemon out because I didn’t think it would go with my extreme noise tracks chocolate ice cream filling hahaha.
