Dorie describes this cake as a sponge cake that is moist and a bit chewy. It does have one and half sticks of butter in it which almost qualifies as a butter cake for me. Dorie gives a multitude of variations for the cake, I went with orange as that is what I had on hand. Dorie warns that the fresh fruit often sinks into the batter and that is what mine did. I sprinkled sugar on top prior to baking as it was one of her suggestions. Somehow I managed to not bake this cake correctly. I baked for the full time and used the toothpick test for doneness but when my cake cooled it sank in the middle. After cutting into it, I had some uncooked dough in the center. Not my finest hour. On well on to the next bake. Tuesdays with Dorie.
rats, but as you say, onto the next.
