
This was the weirdest potato salad recipe I have come across in quite some time; seasoned with pickles, capers, wasabi, orange, and saffron oh my. I had been waiting for the right time to make this recipe as I needed guests to eat it, my son doesn’t like potato salad and my husband dislikes mayonnaise. We had friends over for the Labor Day holiday so potato salad it is. By the way, Basta Pasta is the name of a New York City restaurant. Per Dorie, this dish is best made a day ahead which I did do. None of us could taste the wasabi, maybe it needed more. The dominant flavor was the orange rind. Mayonnaise based anything does not fly in my house so this one will not be a repeat.
