Maple-Star Anise Cookies

Dorie’s Cookies

So if I named these cookies I would name them Orange-Star Anise Cookies. I couldn’t really taste the maple syrup. It is pretty hard to have maple shine through when orange rind and star anise are such strong flavors. We love sandwich cookies so I went that route. My husband deemed these too sweet and then it dawned on me that I hadn’t put in any salt. My bad, forgot the salt, put a little more in the filling to try and off set the sweetness. Put together these were a big hit in my house, disappearing fast.

These were so good! I was travelling with mine so I skipped the filling.

They are so pretty! I love these type of cookies, I do agree with your husband about the sweetness though. I wondered if I could skip the rolling them in sugar part if I made them again. But otherwise my favourite so far!
