Tuesdays with Dorie
Dorie’s Cookies
We had a family discussion about cookie versus cake. My son looked up the definition of a cookie “a small sweet cake, typically round, flat, and crisp”. Dorie’s Strawberry Shortcake Cookies almost fit this definition except crisp. This dessert became my family’s Memorial Day treat, it fit the bill of being patriotic.
The hardest part of this dessert is buttering and flouring the pans. My sponge cakes came out perfect with a twelve minute bake. I made the strawberry compote sans rose extract. Don’t tell Dorie but I didn’t make the whipped cream from scratch. Strawberry Shortcakes!, what’s not to like? Thank you to my husband for setting up the shot and my son for taking the photo, a true family affair.
To see what others made head over to Tuesdays with Dorie.
Your shortcakes look terrific Diane. I loved them.

What a fun and festive photo and dessert. Happy Memorial Day! I have taken to using melted butter to generously butter my pans (muffin and Madeleine) makes it so much easier and thorough.
